Loading the trailer. Will everything fit?! Taj and Ziggy try to walk through the mirror in a hotel room.

Slide 5: On the road

The next three days were full of packing, and getting rid of stuff. It was a trick to get everything to fit in the trailer and we seemed to spend most of our time getting rid of stuff. Our poor neighbors were the recipients of a lot of our stuff that I couldn’t bear to throw away. It was a mad dash at the end to clean before we left for the closing on the house. We were actually a half an hour late to our closing which is very uncharacteristic of us! Everything was fine though and the closing went well. We celebrated with a dinner at our neighbors (Alicia, Steve, Kira and Natalie) and then headed to Chattanooga for our first night on the road.

I was very worried about how the dogs would do on the trip and brought sedatives for Taj which I eventually gave up on because they only seemed to make things worse. Taj also got sick for the first few days but recovered. Aside from the crazy drugs I had Taj on and his bout with diarrhea the dogs seemed to like traveling and being with us all the time. They were mystified by mirrors in the hotel room though, trying to walk through them as if they were a doorway.
